Mail Portals

Microsoft 365/Google Workspace

Chances are, your target organization is using either Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace for their email needs.

The easiest way to find the organization's mail login portal is to visit the login pages for Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace and enter a valid email address of your target organization. You'll either be redirected to the organization's login portal or you'll receive an error stating that the account doesn't exist.

No easier option than this!

Autodiscover

Autodiscover is a feature introduced by Microsoft in 2007 to simplify the configuration process for organization mailboxes.

For these features to work, a DNS CNAME record is automatically put in place. This CNAME record is autodiscover.domain (e.g., autodiscover.weelee.zip) and will typically send you to the organization's mail login portal when entered into the address bar.

MX Records

The Mail Exchanger (MX) Record specifies the mail server responsible for accepting email messages on behalf of a domain name. This can often tell you what an organization uses for email (e.g., Microsoft, Gmail, etc.).

Note that if an organization utilizes an email security solution such as Mimecast or Proofpoint, the MX record will point to the email security solution's servers.
